IPL 2023: Cricket fraternity lauds Gujarat Titans for a dominating 56-run win over Lucknow Super Giants

GT now has 16 points and are firmly placed on the top of the points table.

The 51st match of the IPL 2023 saw the Gujarat Titans (GT) clashing against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on May 7th.

Hardik Pandya, the captain of the GT was asked to bat first by LSG captain Krunal Pandya who won the toss.

Gujarat Titans got a massive opening partnership as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill hammered the LSG bowlers to all parts of the Motera Stadium. The duo added 142 runs for the first wicket in just 12.3 overs.

Saha hammered 10 fours and 4 sixes in his 43-ball 81-run stay before getting out to Avesh Khan. But then, Shubman Gill took over and played through the innings, making 94* in 51 balls with 7 sixes and 2 fours.

And thanks to Hardik Pandya's 25 in 15 balls with 2 sixes and David Miller's 21*, Gujarat Titans scored an astounding 227 for 2.

In response, Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock gave LSG a flying start, adding 88 runs in 8.2 overs for the 1st wicket. Mayers scored 48 runs in 32 balls with seven fours and two sixes. After his dismissal, De Kock continued and made 70 in 41 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours.

But then Mohit Sharma broke the back of Lucknow's innings, with figures of 4/29 and though Badoni shined with 21 in 11 balls, LSG finished on 171/7 and lost the match by 56 runs.

With this win, GT now has 16 points with 8 wins in 11 matches, and LSG has 11 points from 11 matches.
