Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 50 of IPL 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Saturday (May 6).

Opting to bat first, RCB posted 181/4 on the board with key contributions from Mahipal Lomror (54* off 29), Faf du Plessis (45 off 32) and Virat Kohli (55 off 46).

Mitchell Marsh was the stand-out bowler for DC, returning with the figures of 2 for 21 in his three overs.

In reply, the hosts got off to a blazing start as the duo of Phil Salt and skipper David Warner added 60 runs for the opening wicket in just five overs. While Warner got out after scoring 14-ball 22, Salt held the one end and took the RCB attack to the cleaners.

Phil Salt stitched a 59-run stand for the second wicket with Mitchell Marsh (26) and followed it with another crucial partnership of 52 runs alongside Rilee Rossouw.

Karn Sharma dismissed Salt in the 16th over but not before the right-handed opener slammed 87 off 45 balls (8 fours and 6 sixes) to put the Capitals on the verge of victory.

In the end, Rossouw (35* off 22) and Akshar Patel (8*) completed the formalities and took the home team over the finishing line with 20 deliveries to spare.
