Jaiswal slammed his maiden IPL ton during the MI-RR clash on April 30.
After RR won the toss and opted to bat first, Jaiswal waged a lone battle, smashing 124 off 62 balls to propel the visitors to a mammoth 212/7 in 20 overs. His knock was laced with 16 fours and 8 sixes.
With this innings, Jaiswal also snatched the Orange Cap from RCB skipper Faf du Plessis as he became the leading run-getter in the IPL 2023 so far with 428 runs from 9 innings at a strike rate of 159.70, including a hundred and three half-centuries.
Impressed with his exploits, former England skipper Michael Vaughan heaped praise on Jaiswal, hailing the southpaw as a real talent.
“That was a pleasure to watch. He is a real talent. I don’t want to put too much pressure but 124 from 62 balls, striking at 200. He wasn’t out either, that was a no-ball. That was a special innings and we will remember it for a long time. There are a lot of good innings in T20 cricket and a lot of good strikers of the ball,” quoted Vaughan while speaking to Cricbuzz.
Vaughan further said that Yashasvi Jaiswal will play for India and will score hundreds for his country in the next few years.
“In a few years we will be sitting here and remember that innings. He will play for India and he will score hundreds for India, and we will sit around here and say do you remember that first IPL hundred. That was a special knock,” he added.
Vaughan described Jaiswal as a 360-degree player who has all the shots in his armoury.
“He has got every shot in the book. He is a 360-degree player and he is everything a modern player needs to be. The best players in the world have the ability to hit the ball 360 degrees. Brilliant mindset, great mentality, can’t wait to him in over the next few years,” he remarked.
