KKR had previously beaten RCB by 81 runs in Eden Gardens in IPL 2023.
Virat Kohli was once again captaining RCB and won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB came in with an unchanged XI, while KKR included Vaibhav Arora in their XI.
Jason Roy (56) and N Jagadeesan (27) added 83 runs in 9.2 overs for the first wicket and when they got out, it looked like RCB would restrict them to a below-par total. But then Venkatesh Iyer (31), Captain Nitish Rana (48 in 21 balls), and then the duo of Rinku Singh (18*) and David Wiese (12* in 3 balls) took KKR to 200/5 in 20 overs.
