Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered a 13-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in a high-scoring affair at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (April 22).

Invited to bat first, PBKS piled up a massive 214/8 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of stand-in skipper Sam Curran’s 29-ball 55. Harpreet Singh (41 off 28) and Jitesh Sharma (25 off 7) also made handy contributions with the bat.

Defending the total, the visitors restricted MI to 201/6. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball as he returned with the figures of 4 for 29 in his four-over spell.

Speaking after the game, Curran called the win a special one while also acknowledging that Arshdeep was more deserving than him for the Player-of-the-Match award.

"Yes, pretty special. An amazing ground and the atmosphere is incredible. MI are a tough team. To win here and defending a total was great for us. I don't deserve the POTM, Arshdeep does. But I did my bit and took responsibility. The others did their job and we are coming together. Hope to have Shikhar Back and also Rabada. So, let's see how it goes," Curran said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

With this victory, Punjab Kings moved up to the fifth spot in the team standings with 8 points from 7 games.

Sam Curran, who is standing in as captain in the absence of injured Shikhar Dhawan, revealed that the dressing room has a relaxed vibe.

"It's a nice vibe in the dressing room and we are keeping it simple. They tell us to enjoy ourselves and be positive. Shikhar is a relaxed guy and he helps us stay grounded. I am happy with the win and hope Shikhar gets fit and leads the side. I am enjoying my captaincy in the interim. 2 wins in 3 games," he concluded.
