Dhoni’s popularity in Chennai is at par with the legendary actor Rajinikanth.
In fact, Dhoni’s popularity in Chennai is at par with the legendary actor Rajinikanth. CSK supporters fondly call Dhoni as Thala whereas Rajinikanth is known as Thalaivaa among the fans.
On Wednesday (April 19), Dhoni opened up on his admiration for Rajinikanth while speaking at an event organised by CSK.
During the event, also featuring CSK coach Stephen Fleming and batter Ambati Rayudu, a picture was shown on the screen, in which Dhoni can be seen imitating the iconic pose of Rajinikanth while sitting in a chair.
The anchor asked Dhoni about the picture, “You are looking super awesome in this picture. Comparing these two images, where did you seek inspiration from?”
To which, the CSK captain replied: “There’s no comparison. We were just trying to copy a great pose from a great man. Nothing beyond that because it’s very difficult to think like him or do stuff like him. But at least we can copy the pose.”

Under MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings have won three out of their five IPL 2023 matches so far. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk on Friday (April 21).
