Stokes suffered pain in his heel post practice session at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (April 7).
According to the report, Stokes suffered pain in his heel post practice session at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (April 7) and he has been advised 10 days of rest.
“The CSK medical team will assess the situation on Saturday afternoon before taking a final call, however, those who are aware of the development says he might not risk playing the game,” the report stated.
Stokes was roped in by Chennai Super King for a hefty sum of INR 16.25 Crore at the IPL 2023 auction last December.
Earlier, it was reported that the Chennai-based franchise sees him as a future leader. Notably, the four-time champions have been searching for legendary MS Dhoni's replacement as a skipper.
Ahead of the clash against MI, CSK all-rounder Moeen Ali said Ben Stokes is enjoying his time with the franchise.
“He’s really enjoying himself. CSK is the type of franchise where you come here and you do tend to enjoy yourself and really love playing for this franchise. He’s settled in really well. He’s a big part of the team with his experience,” Ali stated.
The CSK versus MI rivalry is considered as the biggest in the IPL since both teams have won the tournament multiple times.
“This is a game I really look forward to. These are the two most successful franchises and the fan-following is huge and this is one of the biggest games you can play as a cricketer outside of international cricket. In football’s point of view it is like Manchester United playing Liverpool. These are huge games,” Moeen Ali said.
