Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni seems to be enjoying his time with the bat in the ongoing IPL season.

In CSK’s campaign opener against Gujarat Titans, Dhoni scored 14* off 7 balls with one four and one six while he slammed 12 off 3 balls, including a couple of sixes, in the second match versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

With his little cameo against LSG, the 41-year-old also completed 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Overall, he is the seventh batter and fourth Indian after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan to achieve this feat.

Speaking on JioCinema, Dhoni's former CSK teammates Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa urged youngsters to learn from the CSK captain.

"Every youngster in the IPL must learn, be it in the dressing room or opponent team. I think the commitment, dedication, discipline and to perform for the team, it needs someone who has a big heart," Raina said.

Against LSG, Dhoni came out to bat at No. 8 in the final over and smashed a six off the first ball while facing Mark Wood. The CSK captain also deposited the second ball for a six before being dismissed on the third delivery.

While the first maximum flew over third man, the second one was the pull over deep square leg

"See, it is not easy to bring in that rhythm especially when you are facing someone (Mark Wood) whom the world considers as one of the fastest bowlers and he (Dhoni) is 41. It is not easy to hit a six that too on one leg," Uthappa said on JioCinema.

According to Raina, had Dhoni not hit those two sixes it would have become difficult for CSK bowlers to defend the total of 217. He also praised Ambati Rayudu for his handy knock of 27* in 14 balls.

"Had Mahi bhai not hit those two sixes, it would have been difficult. Even Rayudu hit sixes here and there, I think these small contributions count," Raina stated.
