Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently engaged in Match 6 of the IPL 2023 at Chepauk in Chennai.

This is CSK's first home match since 2019, as the IPL returned to home and away format this season with the COVID-19 pandemic under control. Its also a special homecoming for MS Dhoni, as he is likely to bid goodbye to the local fans after the end of the season, as per reports.

LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first as Ruturaj Gaikwad (57) and Devon Conway (47) provided a 110-run start to CSK in just 9.1 overs. Thereafter with contributions from rest of the batters, CSK reached 217/7 in their 20 overs, as Ravi Bishnoi and Mark Wood picked three wickets each.

Dhoni, came in to bat at number 8 with just five balls remaining in the CSK innings, but made a big impact as he smashed back-to-back sixes off Wood before falling for 12 in 3 balls. He also completed 5000 runs in the IPL, becoming the first wicketkeeper-batter to achieve the milestone.
