David Warner also wished speedy recovery to Pant.
David Warner shared a special message for Rishabh Pant after he was named captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, starting on March 31.
Warner replaced Pant as DC captain for the IPL 2023 after the Indian wicketkeeper-batter was ruled out not just from the tournament but also for an indefinite period following his horrific car accident in December last year.
As Pant is on the road to recovery, Warner said that DC has "big shoes to fill" this season, but added that they are even more motivated to lift the title in Pant’s absence.
David Warner said in a video shared by DC on Twitter: “We are motivated every season, but we are motivated even more to lift the title this year in your absence. We are going to be on the journey of your recovery with you. We are going to send some special messages and hopefully, you can come to one of our games.”
He added, “I am honored to be named captain of the Delhi Capitals alongside Akshar Patel being named vice-captain. We have big shoes to fill. On behalf of the DC family, I would like to wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.”
Notably, Delhi Capitals (DC) will kickstart its IPL 2023 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in an away game on 1 April.
