Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) confirmed that their fast bowler, Karnataka’s Prasidh Krishna will be missing the entire upcoming IPL 2023 due to his fitness issues as he underwent surgery for a stress fracture to his back.

The Karnataka pacer suffered a lumbar stress fracture and has undergone surgery for the same, which will now need a lengthy rehabilitation process on the road to recovery. He was bought by RR in IPL 2022 auction for INR 10 crores and was retained ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

In the IPL 2022, Prasidh repaid the faith with a tally of 19 wickets in 17 outings as Rajasthan Royals made it to the final of the tournament for the first time since the inaugural season in 2008.

Meanwhile, on February 17, RR posted an update on their social media regarding Krishna and confirmed that he will miss the IPL 2023 due to his recovery and that while they will be aiding in his journey back to full fitness, RR mentioned that they will be seeking a replacement for him.

“We are doing everything possible to support and aid Prasidh’s recovery process from injury, and hope to see him steaming in soon. Our coaching staff has been actively identifying and developing pacers from our trials and preparatory camps, as we work towards a decision on Prasidh's replacement.

Unfortunately, after consulting the medical staff and him, it was decided that he will not be able to take part in IPL 2023,” RR said in a statement on their website.
