The IPL 2023 will be played in India and will revert back to the home and away format after three years of it being affected by the COVID pandemic. The IPL 2020 was fully played in UAE, while IPL 2021 was first played in India, before being interrupted by the second wave of the pandemic before being completed in UAE.

The IPL 2022 was played in India, but only in four stadiums in Maharashtra and knockouts in Ahmedabad and Kolkata. But with the pandemic subsiding, the IPL 2023 will go back to franchises playing at their home grounds and away as well.

This will mean the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be back playing in front of their home crowd at M Chidambaram stadium or Chepauk as it is called.

CSK coach Stephen Fleming, in a video shared by the franchise on Twitter, spoke in detail about his experience as a player and now a head coach at Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, and also revealed one of his favorite memories at the stadium.

The noise is a part of it. You associate that with the game. It was actually practice day that really struck home to me when we came back in and MS came out to bat and it was something like 20,000 people for our homecoming. Just the excitement and that noise for a training, was something I haven't experienced before. It was really unique and I know a lot of players and a lot of people who took note of that,” Fleming said in the video.

The hairs on the back of your neck stood up, It was unexpected. It was great to try and have the players training in that type of environment. It was real introduction back to our home ground,” said the CSK head coach.

MS Dhoni will once again lead the CSK team in IPL 2023 in what is probably being touted as his final IPL season.
