The mini-auction will be held in Kochi on December 23.
The player registration for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) auction ended on Wednesday (November 30), and the IPL announced that a total of 991 players registered for the event which will be held in Kochi on December 23.
The IPL, on December 1, revealed that out of the 991 registered players, 714 are Indian and 277 are overseas. This includes 185 capped, 786 uncapped, and 20 players from Associate Nations.
The most number of the overseas players registered are from Australia - 57, while 52 are from South Africa, 33 are from West Indies, and 31 are from England.
If every franchise has a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 87 players are available to be bought in the auction, of which 30 can be overseas players.
According to ESPNCricinfo, a total of 21 players have listed themselves at the maximum base price of ₹2 crore, none of which are Indians. Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran are some of the marquee names in this list of players.
Joe Root has listed himself at ₹1 crore, while Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have decided not to enter the auction.
Former Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal has set his base price at ₹1 crore, while veterans Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma will be available in the auction for ₹50 lakh and ₹75 lakh respectively.
