Shardul Thakur will play for KKR in the IPL 2023 season.
Delhi Capitals (DC) have traded all-rounder Shardul Thakur to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday (November 14) for uncapped all-rounder Aman Khan. Thakur was bought by DC in the IPL 2022 mega auction for a whopping ₹10.75 crore, while KKR had picked up Aman for ₹20 lakhs.
Thakur took 15 wickets in 14 matches and scored 120 runs for DC, but his economy rate of close to 10 runs per over hurt the franchise and perhaps helped them make their mind up ahead of the auction next month for the IPL 2023 season.
"Shardul Thakur has been traded from Delhi Capitals to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023," the IPL organisers said in a statement. "Emerging all-rounder Aman Khan has been traded to Delhi Capitals from Kolkata Knight Riders." it added.
The deal will allow Delhi Capitals to go into the auction with a larger purse and perhaps fill the gaps that were exposed during the 2022 season where they missed out on a playoff spot.
KKR, before buying Thakur, had used the transfer window to get pacer Lockie Ferguson and wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans.
