Tentative IPL 2023 auction date revealed; CSK deny trade requests for Ravindra Jadeja - Report

The IPL 2023 will go back to home-away format.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to hold the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) auction for the 16th edition in mid-December this year, with December 16 likely to be the date, reports suggested.

Understandably, it will be a mini-auction but the venue has not yet been finalized. Dates for the league are still not known but it is likely to start in the fourth week of March with the home and away format restored.

Another big news for the franchises is the salary purse is expected to be increased from INR 90 crores to 95 crores this year, which means each team will have reserves of at least INR 5 crore to start with. The purse can further swell if a franchise releases its players or trades them.

CSK fans can't wait for MS Dhoni's return to Chepauk, as IPL 2023 to return to home-away format

This purse may even get bigger as rumors are afloat of player trades. The biggest rumor is of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) applying for trade between Ravindra Jadeja for Shubman Gill. However, this was categorically denied by managements of both franchises to Cricbuzz.

There have, however, been requests for trade for Jadeja from a couple of other teams, Delhi Capitals being one of them. But the CSK management has told Cricbuzz that it has no plans to part with the all-rounder, arguably one of the best in the world.

Cricbuzz also reported that Gujarat Titans have got requests for trade for Rahul Tewatia and R Sai Kishore but the IPL champions have declined the offers.

The transfer/trade window will remain open till one week before the auction and will re-open after it.
