Amidst the rumors of Ravindra Jadeja parting ways with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), a report has indicated how MS Dhoni played a role in Jadeja losing his captaincy of the CSK in IPL 2022.

Jadeja was named the franchise captain just two days before the IPL 2022 began with many questioning the decision given that MS Dhoni had led CSK to the title in IPL 2021 and Jadeja had very little to no experience of leading a team at previous levels.

And that showed as CSK started off poorly and in the first half of the tournament, managing only two wins under the captaincy of Jadeja, who himself struggled for form with both the bat and the ball.

This led to the CSK team management relieving Jadeja from the captaincy burden and handing the reins back to MS Dhoni.

Later Jadeja suffered a rib injury, ending his IPL 2022 early, while CSK finished the tournament with just 4 wins to their name.

Ravindra Jadeja completely 'out of touch' with CSK, likely to part ways with the franchise – Report

A couple of months ago, Jadeja deleted all the CSK-related posts from his Instagram page. And a few weeks back, he deleted a heartfelt reply to CSK, where he claimed that he would spend 10 more years with the Yellow Army.

Now with MS Dhoni confirming that he will play the IPL 2023 and captain the CSK team, it has been rumored that Jadeja is looking for a new home in the league.

As per a report in The Times of India, Jadeja and CSK haven't been in touch since IPL 2022 and there could be a case that the cricketer might leave the franchise.

A CSK insider has shed more light on the issue including how MS Dhoni played a role in Jadeja losing his CSK captaincy.

CSK insider said that Dhoni feared for Jadeja's place in the Indian T20I side owing to his below-par performance in the IPL 15 season. This led to Dhoni returning as the leader of the side. It was evident that captaincy was taking a toll on Jadeja as a batter and as a bowler and he had dropped a couple of catches as well.

Now it remains to be seen whether CSK manage to keep Jadeja with them or will he don a new uniform in the IPL 2023.
