Chandrakant Pandit will be making his IPL debut as coach next year.
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday (17th August) roped in Chandrakant Pandit as their head coach for the next edition of the tournament.
KKR's decision came after Brendon McCullum stepped down as the coach of the franchise following his appointment as the head coach of the England cricket team a few months ago.
Chandrakant, who has a very high reputation as a coach, will be making his IPL debut in 2023. He has a decent track record as the coach of domestic teams and his coaching style has been lauded by many.

KKR’s decision to make Chandrakant as the head coach was applauded by many but former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer came up with a hilarious reaction and suggested fans to watch Shah Rukh Khan's movie, Chak de India, to get familiar with his coaching style.
Taking to his Twitter account, Jaffer said: “Happy for Chandu bhai! To the KKR players unfamiliar with his coaching style, I'd suggest watching @iamsrk in Chak de India will help.”
Chandrakant Pandit, who is known as a hard task-master, would be hoping to make KKR three-time champions. The two-time champions had a forgettable season last year as they finished 8th on the points table.
