Media rights for IPL 2023-2027 seasons were sold for a total of INR 48,390 crores.
Purchased for a colossal valuation of INR 48,390 crores, the IPL became the second-most valued sporting league in the globe, standing only behind United States’ National Football League (NFL).
“Not just cricketers but the IPL has some legends of the game now turning up as coaches. It is a fantastic platform and benefits everyone as the experience one gets here is priceless. There will be an increase in the number of games as we go ahead,” Jay Shah had told Cricbuzz.
However, these comments didn't sit well with former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi who stated that being the biggest market for cricket, India can do anything they want
Speaking on SAMAA TV’s show Game Set Match, Afridi admitted that India dominated world cricket and said: “It all comes down to the market and the economy. The biggest [cricket] market is India. Whatever they will say will happen.”
It is expected that the number of games that were 74 for the IPL 2022 due to the addition of two new teams, might increase to 94 in the future depending on the window IPL is allowed.
