Warne left the entire cricket fraternity shocked when he was found unresponsive in his Villa in Thailand in March and his untimely demise made many emotional and numb.

Not only did he take Australian cricket to great heights, but he also played a great role in IPL. The Australian legend was the first player acquired by the RR in IPL 2008 auction.

The leg-spinner was appointed as the captain of the team and he proved his prowess by leading the team to the title victory in the inaugural edition of the league. Warne captained RR for the first four seasons before announcing his retirement from the tournament in 2011.

The spin wizard represented RR in 55 games, picking up 57 wickets, at an economy rate of 7.27. After his retirement, he joined the team in 2018 as a mentor and played a crucial role in nourishing young players.

1st June marks RR’s 14th anniversary of their title win in 2008. Warne-led side defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 3 wickets to script the history. The franchise on the occasion posted a video of the leg-spinner in which he can seen talking about the key to IPL success.

"The key to IPL what I found out and thought out was the first thing, you have to win the people’s hearts. You have to win the players’ hearts. That’s the first thing you have to do,” Shane Warne said.
