GT won the IPL 2022 title by defeating RR in the final.
After two months of exciting and enthralling contests, IPL 2022 finally came to an end. Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) scripted history by winning the title in their very first season in the tournament.
The tournament saw a lot of staggering individual performances that made many go bonkers. The likes of Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umran Malik, Hardik, among others set the stage on fire and gave fans everything to cheer about.
Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, who did commentary duties during the IPL, on Tuesday (31st May) named his team of the tournament. He picked Buttler (863) and Quinton de Kock (508) as the two openers in his side.

LSG skipper KL Rahul, who scored 616 runs, will bat at No.3 in Pietersen’s team with Hardik (487), Liam Livingston (437) and David Miller (481) at 4,5 and 6 respectively. The IPL 15 winning skipper will also be captain of his team.
Rahul Tewatia and R Ashwin are the two spin-bowling all-rounders whereas Umran Malik, who took 22 wickets, and Josh Hazlewood (20) will form the pace attack. Yuzvendra Chahal, who won the purple cap, is a solitary spinner in the former cricketer’s side.
Citing the reason for Ashwin's selection in his team Pietersen said in his column for Betway, "Averaging over 27 with the bat and taking 12 wickets is a great effort. That all-round output means that this was a fine campaign."
