David Miller is one of the architect of GT's successful campaign.
South Africa batter David Miller has been terrific with the bat in the IPL 2022 and played a key role in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) first-ever title win on Sunday (May 29).
Miller made 32* off 19 to help Gujarat Titans (GT) chase down 131 runs with ease, as the new entrants crushed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets in the IPL 2022 Final to clinch their maiden trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Notably, Miller has been known as one of the most gifted stroke-makers and big hitters in the shorter format of the game, but his performance in the last few editions of the IPL didn’t match his status.
However, he managed to turn out as one of the heroes for GT to prove why he is one of the hard-hitters of the game.
He amassed 481 runs with the highest score of 94* to help GT win the IPL 2022 title and now the batter said that it was the most memorable season for him and the result of his patience.
In a video posted by IPL on Twitter, David Miller told his GT teammate Rashid Khan: “I'm starting to work out my game, what works and what doesn’t. I've failed so many times.”
He continued, “Batting in the middle order can be difficult, especially given the fact that there’s pressure in terms of the run rate and that every situation is very different. So it's just been about staying calm and giving myself the best chance possible.”
On his performance in the IPL 15, the Proteas star said: “What I've really enjoyed this season is playing spin. I've really been working hard on that over the past three to four years, just getting better at batting against it. I never thought it was an issue, but I've really enjoyed working on it, changing a few things and it's definitely helped my game. Very chuffed about that.”
Miller signed off by saying, “It’s been one of my most memorable seasons to be honest, predominantly because of the team itself. Throughout the season, everyone has contributed. Being the underdogs for much of the seasons means it's nice to lift the trophy.”
