Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been "reprimanded" for violating the IPL Code of Conduct, an official IPL media release stated on Friday (May 27).

Karthik had breached the Code Of Conduct during his team’s Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday (May 25).

“Mr. Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” the release stated.

“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it further added.

Dinesh Karthik has played a key role in RCB’s success in this year’s IPL. The right-hander has so far scored 324 runs in 15 innings at an incredible strike rate of 187.28. In particular, his brutal hitting in the death overs has impressed one and all.

Karthik also played a crucial cameo of 37* in 23 balls in RCB’s 14-run victory over LSG in the Eliminator. The Bangalore-based franchise will now take on Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on May 27.
