Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’ ordeal regarding their veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t seem to be coming to an end anytime soon. IPL 2022 started off with CSK announcing him with the responsibility of leading the team, as MS Dhoni decided to step down.

However, things didn’t work out well as the four-time champions lost six matches out of the first eight played under Jadeja’s captaincy, following which, the duty of leading the team was handed back to MS Dhoni by the management of CSK.

Speaking about the whole situation, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra discussed in length about Jadeja’s role in the team. Chopra said that CSK might find it difficult to take a call regarding Jadeja’s place in the team for the IPL 2023.

Jadeja had a forgettable season this year, as he scored only 116 runs in 10 matches with an average of 19.33, and managed to take only 5 wickets.

While speaking on the subject on his YouTube channel, Chopra said, “There are serious question marks over Ravindra Jadeja. He was not available for the last few games and had even left the captaincy before that. He was retained for ₹16 crores but it seems he will not be captain next year.”

Adding on, he said, “MS Dhoni had clearly stated that leadership was affecting him. The news from the camp is everything is okay. But whether it is, we shall find out next season. If CSK releases him, they will be able to free ₹16 crores, but they won’t find another player like him.”

There was a lot of talk in the cricketing world regarding an apparent disagreement between Jadeja and CSK management. The latter however confirmed that because of a rib injury, the Saurashtra all-rounder had to go for recovery.
