Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, wasn’t given a single match in the IPL despite being part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise for the last two seasons. He warmed the benches for 14 IPL 2022 matches, while the MI only managed 4 wins this season.

After MI’s campaign ended on a winning note, Tendulkar revealed that he always told his son Arjun that the path was going to be challenging for him and that he needed to work hard to get into the playing XI.

He also said that he was never involved in team selection despite being an MI mentor.

On being asked whether he would have liked to watch Arjun play in the IPL 15, Sachin Tendulkar said at a show 'SachInsight': “This is a different question. What I am thinking or what I feel is not important. The season is already over.”

The batting legend continued, “And my conversation with Arjun has always been that the path is going to be challenging, it is going to be difficult. You started playing cricket because you are in love with cricket, continue to do so, continue to work hard and results will follow.”

He concluded, “And if we speak about selection, I have never involved myself in selection. I leave all these things to the (team) management because that is how I have always functioned.”
