Parvez Rasool also highlighted Umran’s rapid rise as a cricketer.
First Jammu and Kashmir cricketer to play for India, Parvez Rasool heaped praise on fellow Kashmir cricketer Umran Malik, saying the pacer will soon break Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar's fastest delivery record after his stunning performance in IPL 2022.
Notably, Rawalpindi Express bowled the fastest delivery in international cricket, clocking 161.3 kph against England in Cape Town in February 2003, becoming the first bowler to break the 100 mph barrier.
At Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Umran bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2022 when he clocked 157 kmph against Delhi Capitals (DC). Well, he has consistently bowled over 150 kmph this season.
As reported by IANS, Rasool stated: “The way Umran is bowling in the IPL, I think he will break Akhtar's fastest delivery record very soon. Umran is an amazing talent. He is performing well in the IPL and it's a great sign for Indian cricket that these kinds of talents are coming and doing well.”
Rasool also highlighted Umran’s rapid rise and said that he is the future of Indian cricket in the fast bowling department. The pacer snared 21 wickets in 13 matches in the IPL 2022.
He signed off by saying, “I think he played very few games of junior cricket in Under-17 or Under-19. After that, he played Ranji. He has so much talent that everybody is talking about him. In the IPL he is doing well and I think he is the future for Indian cricket.”
