Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson has a disappointing IPL 2022 season with the bat, scoring 2018 runs from 12 innings at an abysmal average of 18.91 and a poor strike rate of 92.85.

Williamson’s latest failure came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at MCA Stadium, Pune on Saturday (May 14).

In a must-win clash, the SRH skipper managed just 9 runs in 17 balls in a chase of 178 and his team suffered a crushing 54-defeat at the hands of KKR.

During the 6th over of SRH’s innings, Williamson attempted to play a scoop over the keeper off Andre Russell’s bowling but he ended up missing it and saw his stumps rattled.

Soon after his dismissal, cameras caught SRH batting coach Brian Lara venting out his frustration as he had his head buried in his hands in dismay.

Coming to the match, KKR restricted SRH to 123/8 in 20 overs. It was a listless batting performance from the Sunrisers as most of them got out for a single-digit score. Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer with 28-ball 43.

All the Kolkata bowlers were among the wickets but it was Russell who stole the show, picking three wickets by giving away just 22 runs in his four overs. While Tim Southee (2-23) took two scalps, Umesh Yadav (1-19), Varun Chakaravarthy (1-25), and Sunil Narine (1-34) claimed wicket apiece.
