CSK have 4 wins in 11 matches thus far in IPL 2022.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has highlighted the mistakes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made in the initial stages of the IPL 2022 after the franchise finally got some wins under their belt.
He has pointed out that dropping New Zealand's Devon Conway after just one failure was one of the major reasons for the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) struggle earlier in the tournament.
After returning from his wedding, Conway has smashed three fifties to help CSK keep their hopes alive for the IPL 15 playoffs. This includes his IPL best of 87 against the Delhi Capitals (DC).

Kaif told Sportskeeda: “Conway was dropped after just one failure. The way he has been batting, CSK would be regretting the mistake. They had a very good player in the squad but couldn’t utilize him properly. Conway is a class player. He has all kinds of strokes in his armory. He plays 360-angle shots, and the bowler doesn't know what kind of stroke he is going to play.”
On MS Dhoni taking again the reins of CSK in the middle of the ongoing IPL 2022, the former batter said: “Dhoni as captain makes a big difference to CSK. When he walks out for the toss, it’s a different picture. The crowd gets right behind him. Even before the start, he makes an impact on the match. CSK missed MSD’s leadership in the first phase. Dhoni has led the team to two wins in three games. He looked in control immediately after taking back the captaincy.”
