Bumrah's 5/10 kept KKR to 165/9 with Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana top-scoring with 43 each.
MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. They made one change as Suryakumar Yadav, who had been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 due to injury, was replaced by Ramandeep Singh.
On the other hand, KKR made bulk changes as Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Sheldon Jackson, Pat Cummins, and Varun Chakravarthy replaced Shivam Mavi, Anukul Roy, Aaron Finch, Baba Indrajith, and Harshit Rana in the XI.
Venkatesh Iyer with 43 in 24 balls and Nitish Rana with 43 in 26 balls were the best scorers for KKR, while Ajinkya Rahane with 25, and Rinku Singh with 23* also contributed to the final total of 165/9 in 20 overs.
KKR were poised for much more as they were 123/3 in 13.1 overs but then Jasprit Bumrah showed his magic with the ball. He picked his maiden fifer in T20s and in IPL, as he removed the likes of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson, and Pat Cummins, to halt the KKR scoring.
He finished with his best-ever IPL figures of 5/10 in 4 overs, while Kumar Karthikeya picked 2 wickets as well.
His wife Sanjana Ganesan was cheering for him from the stands and as he completed his fifer, took to Twitter and posted: “Holy moly! My husband is ????????????”
On the other hand, the cricket fraternity was not behind in praising Jasprit Bumrah for his brilliant spell of bowling against KKR.
