The star batter scored his third golden duck of the season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opted to bat first after winning the toss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (May 08) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Opener Virat Kohli, who had started to find some form, on the first delivery of the match simply chipped the ball, a leg-stump half-volley from Jagdeesha Suchith, into the hands of Kane Williamson standing at short midwicket.
This was his sixth golden duck in IPL and of which three have come in the ongoing season. During the match, Ranveer Singh, who appeared on Star Sports, said he hopes Kohli to get out of his "bad phase" and do well for India at the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
“It is quite disappointing to see Virat getting out on a first-ball duck. However, it doesn't affect his stature," he said.
"He was and will always be a great cricketer. I want him to come out of this bad phase soon because I want to see him do well for Team India in the T20 World Cup,"
"Virat is one of the best batsmen in the world. It was his third golden duck in TATA IPL 2022, is completely unexpected. I thought Virat would play a big knock today," added the Bollywood actor.
"He is definitely going through a bad phase but I want this player to be fully recharged before the T20 World Cup so that he regains his prime form for the big tournament," he further said.
Despite losing Virat Kohli's wicket early on, Faf du Plessis led from the front, smashing 73* off 50 balls. The RCB skipper shared a 105-run partnership with Rajat Patidar, who scored 38-ball 48. At number four, Glenn Maxwell came in and scored a crucial 24-ball 33 before getting dismissed.
With 9 balls left, arguably the greatest finisher in the world at the moment, Dinesh Karthik walked in at number 5 and smashed 30 not out off just 8 balls, taking RCB to a massive 192/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 193 to win, both the SRH openers were dismissed for a duck. Rahul Tripathi hit a fabulous 37-ball 58. Wanindu Hasaranga’s 5/18 in 4 overs restricted the chasing team to 125 allowing the Royal Challengers to win by 67 runs.
RCB stand at the 4th spot with 7 wins in 12 matches and will next take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday (May 13).
