MS Dhoni will lead CSK for the rest of the IPL 2022 season.
Amid the speculations, the 40-year-old Dhoni on Sunday (May 1) hinted that he will be back in the yellow jersey next year but left a bit of curiosity with his answer.
Speaking to Danny Morrison at the toss for the CSK-SRH clash, Dhoni said: "You will definitely see me in the yellow jersey [next year], whether this yellow jersey or some other yellow jersey, that's a different thing."
Under MS Dhoni, CSK have won four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. However, he decided to pass the leadership baton to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the 2022 edition.
The move didn’t work out well as the defending champions lost 6 out of their 8 games and are occupying the ninth spot on the points table currently.
On the eve of the game against SRH, Jadeja relinquished CSK’s captaincy, handing it back to Dhoni in a bid to focus on his game.
“The kind of catches we have dropped are not the ones you can practise. With the ball, we don't want to bowl big overs, 18 runs is okay but not 24-25 runs,” Dhoni said on the current season while speaking after CSK lost the toss and asked to bat first.
