Umran Malik takes 5/25 against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday.
SRH's Umran Malik, the young pace sensation from Jammu and Kashmir, claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, said he would like to bowl around 155 kmph one day, but his main focus remains on bowling in the appropriate spots.
With stats of 5/25, the 22-year-old from Jammu put Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on the verge of the victory, but Gujarat Titans (GT) pulled off a heist as Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan smashed four sixes in between them in the last over to achieve 25 runs and win the match by five wickets.
Despite the fact that his efforts went in vain, Umran was rightfully named Player of the Match for his blazing spell of fast bowling, which was one of the best in IPL history.
"The idea was to bowl fast and maintain length and plan the wickets. Like I dismissed Hardik bhai with a bouncer and shuffled up (Wriddhiman) Saha and bowled him out with a yorker. I tried to mix my bowling, and target the wickets as it is a small ground. Otherwise, our bowling has done well," Malik said after the match on Wednesday night.
Asked if he still fancies touching the 155 kmph mark, he said: "I just want to bowl at the right areas and get wickets and if I have to bowl above 155 kmph, God willing, I will do one day."

Malik has routinely bowled at speeds in excess of 150 km/h this season, taking 15 wickets at an average of 15.93 in eight innings.
Malik, who came into the attack in the eighth over, bowled devastatingly rapid deliveries to scythe through the Gujarat Titans top-order, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to take first five wickets in an innings, where only five wickets fell.
