Dhawan played an unbeaten knock of 88 runs against CSK.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shikhar Dhawan on Monday (25th April) talked about his performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in Mumbai.
In what was his 200th IPL game, Dhawan stole the limelight and played a masterful innings of 88 not out and helped his side win the match by 11 runs.
Opening the batting, Dhawan carried his bat throughout the innings and stitched crucial partnerships with, Mayank Agarwal (18), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (42), and Liam Livingston (19) and helped his side post a mammoth total of 187 runs on the board.

Dhawan’s knock was laced with 9 fours and 2 maximums and it earned him the Player of the Match award. During his innings, he also achieved a few milestones. He became only the second batter to complete 6000 runs in the IPL and also passed the 9000-run mark in T20 cricket.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Shikhar Dhawan said that even though he failed to connect shots initially, he kept his calm till he got set.
“The wicket was stopping a bit, I tried to go for the big shots, but I couldn’t connect. But I kept my calm. Once I get set, I can get those boundaries, that’s what I bank on. While batting first it’s about putting pressure on the bowlers and getting boundaries. We don’t have to lose too many wickets, that was our conscious effort,” Shikhar Dhawan said.
Dhawan said that being the senior he has to give inputs to players and the captain. He added that he also shares his experience with the youngsters.
“I have become a senior in the team (laughs), I give a lot of input to the players and my captain, on the field. The youngsters think a lot, sometimes they overthink, so I try to communicate with them. I talk about the law of attraction and how to achieve big in life,” he said.
Dhawan will be next seen in action when PBKS will face Lucknow Super Giants on Friday (29th April) at MCA Stadium in Pune.
