The Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday (April 23) imposed fines on Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur and Pravin Amre for protesting an on-field umpiring decision in the game against Rajasthan Royals on Friday.

It all happened in the final over when DC needed 36 off 6 balls and Rovman Powell slammed three consecutive sixes off Obed McCoy, making the equation 18 off the last three deliveries.

However, the DC players and support staff members felt it was a no ball for height and they clearly showed their dissent. Skipper Rishabh Pant sent assistant coach Pravin Amre on the field to have a word with the umpires.

For his unruly behaviour, Pant has been fined 100 percent of his match-fee.

“Delhi Capitals captain, Rishabh Pant has been fined 100 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.”

“Mr Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” IPL said in a media release.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur was among the players who protested the decision and he has been fined 50 percent of his match-fee.

“Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals has been fined 50 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.”

“Mr Thakur admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” the press release said.

On the other hand, Pravin Amre has been fined 100 percent of his match-fee and handed a one-match ban.
