MS Dhoni might have left the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captaincy and handed the reins to Ravindra Jadeja, but he is still setting the fields for the yellow brigade while Jadeja patrols the boundary. This was evident when CSK clashed with MI in the 33rd match of the IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium.

Jadeja won the toss and chose to bowl first and his bowler Mukesh Choudhary gave CSK the best start as he dismissed both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the first over.

Despite a few dropped catches and a missed stumping, CSK managed to reduce MI to 85/5 with Suryakumar Yadav making 32 from 21 balls at that point in the match.

In walked Kieron Pollard to join young Tilak Varma and much was expected of him. But he fell prey to a brilliant trap set by MS Dhoni. As Pollard set to face Theekshana in the 17th over of the match, before the second ball, Dhoni asked Shivam Dube to move to a straight long-on.

Theekshana bowled a long hop on the off-stump and Pollard tried to pull the ball straight, but ended up hitting it straight to Dube and was dismissed for 14 in 9 balls, leaving MI 111/6.

In the end, Tilak Varma's brilliant 51* in 43 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes) took MI to a respectable final total of 155/7. Mukesh Choudhary picked 3/19, while Bravo took 2 wickets as well.
