Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their impressive run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as they registered a comprehensive 18-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday (April 19).

Invited to bat first, RCB rode on skipper Faf du Plessis’ 64-ball 96 to post a stiff total of 181/6 on the board.

Jason Holder (2-25) and Dushmantha Chameera (2-31) were the pick of the bowlers for LSG, claiming two wickets each. Krunal Pandya also returned with impressive figures of 2 for 29 in his four overs.

In reply, the Super Giants managed 163/8 in their 20 overs. It was a disappointing batting performance as no one managed to hit a half-century. Many batters got starts but failed to take the team over the line with a substantial knock. Krunal Pandya was the top scorer with 28-ball 42.

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball, returning with the remarkable figures of 4 for 25 in his four overs. Harshal Patel (2-47) also picked a couple of scalps but he was a bit expensive with the ball while Glenn Maxwell (1-11) and Mohammed Siraj (1-31) took wicket apiece.

For their clinical performance, RCB players, especially captain Faf du Plessis and pacer Josh Hazlewood, received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
