Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal had a day to remember against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in Mumbai.

Chasing the mammoth target of 218 runs, KKR were going great guns and it seemed that they would complete a sensational chase. But Chahal turned the game toward his side with his staggering effort in the 17th over.

After giving away 38 runs in his first three overs, not many expected the wrist-spinner to do the wonders for his side with opposition skipper Shreyas Iyer tonking almost every bowler out of the ground.

He started the 17th over with the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer (6) and gave away only two runs in the first three balls. After that, he etched his name into the record books as he took his maiden hat-trick in the IPL. Chahal trapped well-set Shreyas (85) LBW before dismissing Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins.

He returned with the figures of 5/40 to shift the game towards his side. His heroics even overshadowed Jos Buttler’s masterful century in the first innings and earned him the Player of the Match award.

After the match, Chahal was seen having an interaction with his wife Dhanashree Verma, who was present in the stands. In the video, the cricketer’s wife can be seen asking her husband about his feelings after taking a hat trick.

RR posted the video on their official Twitter account and captioned it: “Yuzi khush, Bhabhi khush aur hum bhi khush. Truly a “hat-trick day”

Coming to the match, after Chahal took four wickets in the over, Umesh Yadav gave RR a scare. The pacer smashed 21 runs in 9 balls to keep KKR's hopes alive. With 11 runs needed off the last over, Obed McCoy bowled a brilliant over to help his side win the match by 7 runs.
