GT chased down CSK's 169/5 with one ball to spare.
Invited to bat first, CSK rode on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 48-ball 73 and Ambati Rayudu’s 31-ball 46 to post 169/5 on the board. Skipper Ravindra Jadeja also played a handy cameo of 22* in 12 balls.
Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowlers for GT, claiming two wickets by conceding 34 runs in his four overs while stand-in captain Rashid Khan returned with impressive figures of 0-29 in his four-over quota.
In reply, the Titans lost their top three for just 16 runs as Shubman Gill (0), Vijay Shankar (0), and Abhinav Manohar (12) fell cheaply. The score soon became 48/4 and then GT further slipped to 87/5 with Wriddhiman Saha (11) and Rahul Tewatia (6) also failing to contribute much.
Amid the pressure situation, David Miller and Rashid Khan stitched a 70-run partnership for the sixth wicket to bring GT back in the contest. While Rashid got out after scoring a blazing 21-ball 40, Miller held the one end firmly.
With 13 needed off the last over, Miller (94* off 51 balls; 8 fours and 6 sixes) took on CSK’s pace spearhead Chris Jordan, smashing him for a six, four and then ran a couple to seal the deal for Gujarat Titans with one delivery to spare.
For holding their nerves in the run-chase, David Miller and Rashid Khan received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
