CSK won by 23 runs to register their first win of the season.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s wait for a win in the ongoing IPL 2022 season finally ended on Tuesday (April 12), as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 23 runs in Navi Mumbai.
Defending champions CSK had lost their previous four matches, while RCB had three wins to their name in their previous four encounters. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first keeping the dew factor in mind.
CSK posted a massive total of 216/4 courtesy two amazing knocks by Robin Uthappa (88) and Shivam Dube (95*) who smashed 17 sixes between them. CSK scored a whopping 156 runs in the final 10 overs after a sluggish start.
In reply, RCB tried their best but fell short by 23 runs as they scored 193/9 in their 20 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed (41), Suyash Prabhudessai (34) and Dinesh Karthik (34) tried their best to mount up a challenge but it wasn't enough after the failure of the top order in the tall chase. Mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana (4/33) and captain Ravindra Jadeja (3/39) starred with the ball for CSK.
There was a catch by Ambati Rayudu that became one of the major moments of the high-scoring clash between the two heavyweights, as he flew in the air to grab onto a stupendous one-handed catch offered by Akash Deep off Jadeja's bowling.
