CSK piled up a mammoth 216/4 in their 20 overs and restricted RCB to 193/9.
Asked to bat first, CSK rode on Shivam Dube’s 46-ball 95* and Robin Uthappa’s 50-ball 88 to pile up a mammoth 216/4 in their 20 overs.
All the RCB bowlers were taken to the cleaners and amid the carnage, Josh Hazlewood returned with the respectable figures of 1 for 33 in his four overs.
In reply, RCB managed 193/9 in their 20 overs. The top three batters, comprising Faf du Plessis (8), Anuj Rawat (12), and Virat Kohli (1), fell cheaply.
The likes of Glenn Maxwell (26), Shahbaz Ahmed (41), and Suyash Prabhudessai (34) got starts but the middle-order batters failed to convert it into a substantial score.
Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik kept the hopes alive with his stunning cameo of 14-ball 34 but it wasn’t good enough as RCB fell way short of the target.
Maheesh Theekshana (4-33) and skipper Ravindra Jadeja (3-39) starred with the ball for CSK, sharing seven wickets between them.
For their clinical show with the ball, the defending champions received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
