The 22nd match of the IPL 2022 saw two old rivals in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. CSK came into this match on the back of four losses in four matches, while RCB had won three out of their four.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB made two changes to their playing XI giving debuts to Suyash Prabhudessai and Josh Hazlewood as they replaced Harshal Patel and David Willey respectively.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (17) and Moeen Ali (3) failed to do much, but it was the Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube show all the way. The duo thumped the listless RCB bowling to all parts of the DY Patil Stadium as Faf du Plessis and other RCB players looked at the ball flying into the stands at regular intervals.

Shivam Dube continued the carnage and needed a six to reach his hundred off the last ball of the innings, but couldn’t repeat the big hit and remained unbeaten on 95 in 46 balls with 8 massive sixes and 5 fours to his name.
