Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered a major setback as their star all-rounder Washington Sundar is expected to miss at least two upcoming matches in the ongoing IPL 2022.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Tom Moody has revealed that Sundar is likely to be out of action for one or two weeks after suffering a split webbing in his bowling hand, meaning he is unlikely to feature in the SRH’s next two matches in the ongoing IPL 2022.

On April 11, SRH beat Gujarat Titans by eight wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium to record their second win in the ongoing IPL 2022. However, during the match, Sundar got injured and couldn't bowl his full quota of overs. He could deliver only three wicketless overs, conceding 14 runs against the Gujarat Titans.

SRH coach Moody said after the match: “Washington Sundar has torn the webbing in his right hand, between his thumb and first finger. We must monitor that over the next two-three days. Hopefully, it isn't a significant blow. I'd imagine it'd take probably a week or so to settle down.”

Meanwhile, Moody also opened up on Rahul Tripathi’s injury as he fell on the ground right after hitting a six and forced him to retire hurt midway through their chase against the Gujarat Titans.

The SRH coach said, “He's fine, he's just getting cramped. Its humid conditions and we get him to run to hotspots, so he covers a lot of ground in the first two-three overs.”

Moody signed off by saying, “That is something we may need to look at to make sure we get the maximum out of him with the bat because obviously, he is a very valuable player for us.”
