Now on the day of the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), another bad news has hit the CSK camp.
According to an ESPNCricinfo report, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar has suffered a back injury during his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Chahar has been at the NCA for more than a month now, recuperating from a quadricep tear he sustained during India's T20I series against West Indies in February. He was expected to join the CSK squad in late April but the fresh injury has put a question mark on his return to the IPL 2022.
CSK are badly missing the services of Deepak Chahar, who is a potent swing bowler and a dangerous lower-order hitter.
Chahar has played 58 IPL matches for CSK between 2018 and 2021, claiming 58 wickets at an economy rate of 7.70.
He was bought back by the Chennai-based franchise for a whopping sum of INR 14 crore at the IPL 2022 mega-auction in February.
