Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a nervy three-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (April 10).

Invited to bat first, RR rode on Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 59 off 36 balls (1 four and 6 sixes) to post 165/6 in their 20 overs.

Krishnappa Gowtham was the stand-out bowler for LSG, claiming two wickets by conceding 30 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Super Giants got off to a terrible start, losing most of their top-order batters cheaply. KL Rahul (0), Gowtham (0), Jason Holder (8), and Ayush Badoni (5) fell for a single-digit score. Quinton de Kock (39) and Deepak Hooda (25) provided some resistance but they failed to put the team on the brink of victory.

In the death overs, Marcus Stoinis (38* off 17 balls) produced a stunning cameo but it wasn’t enough to take LSG over the line as RR debutant Kuldeep Sen successfully defended 15 runs in the final over, restricting the opposition to 162/8.

Wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (4-40) may have been expensive but he returned with four wickets for the Royals, while speedster Trent Boult (2-30) bowled brilliantly upfront and took two scalps.

Cricket experts on Twitter enjoyed the thrilling encounter between the two teams and shared their opinion on the micro-blogging site.
