Ravindra Jadeja was a disappointed captain as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their fourth successive loss in the ongoing IPL with an 8-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday (April 9).

Asked to bat first, CSK posted 154/7 in their 20 overs. All-rounder Moeen Ali was the top scorer with 48 off 35 balls.

In reply, SRH rode on opener Abhishek Sharma’s 50-ball 75 to overhaul the target with 14 deliveries to spare.

After the game, Jadeja expressed his unhappiness with the performance of the bowling unit.

“It’s with the ball that we are disappointed but we were 20-25 runs short," Jadeja said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We were looking to fight till the end. 155 isn’t bad and our bowlers were looking to take wickets but we’ll look to improve. We’ll talk about where we are lacking. We are professionals and need to work hard, stick together and come back stronger," he added.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming pointed out two major reasons behind their winless campaign so far.

“There has been issues of player availability and we have been pretty much below par in all departments — batting, bowling and fielding.

“We haven’t been able to put any pressure on the opposition and there hasn’t been any close games. We have been distant second in all games and we need to improve in all departments — that’s pretty much it," Fleming said.
