The RCB skipper also lauded Shahbaz Ahmed for his batting exploits against RR.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, Faf du Plessis, has heaped praise on the wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed after the batting exploits helped RCB register a 4-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 13th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 on Tuesday (April 5).
At the Wankhede Stadium, Karthik (44*) and Shahbaz (45) played match-defining knocks to take the RCB over the line against the RR with five balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium to record their second win in the ongoing IPL 2022.
After the match, the RCB skipper said that Shahbaz will get more opportunities in the ongoing IPL 2022 while calling Karthik's franchise a "great asset" and praising him for his character.
Faf du Plessis said in the post-match presentation: “People think that since he (Shahbaz) is a small skinny guy, he can't hit it long but he can smash it a long way. We didn't bowl him today because of the wet ball and left-hander being around but he'll definitely play a long part in this season.”
Hailing Karthik, the RCB captain noted: “To pull it out of nowhere, you need some great characters and DK is as great a character as you can get. His composure under pressure is amazing. He is really calm and such a great asset to us.”
He signed off by saying, “We bowled really well, upto the 18th over, and then Jos got some good shots. Got a score that we thought was a bit above-par with the conditions and the surface spinning a bit. We started quite well though, but then Yuzi (Chahal) bowled really well to get them back in. But for me, the great thing about today once again was our ability to come back to win games out of nowhere.”
Notably, RCB will next face Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, April 9 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune in the ongoing IPL 15.
