IPL 2022: Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal star as RR hand MI a 23-run loss to win second consecutive match

RR registered their second straight win in the ongoing IPL 2022.

The 9th match of the IPL 2022 was the first encounter of the doubleheader on April 2nd, 2022, and played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the DY Patil Stadium. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.

RR finished their 20 overs making 193/8 with Jos Buttler making 100 in 67 balls with 5 sixes and 11 fours to his name. Sanju Samson slammed 30 in 21 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer provided the fireworks in the last few overs, hitting 35 in 14 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours.

Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills both picked three wickets apiece for MI.

In reply, Ishan Kishan’s 54 and Tilak Varma’s maiden IPL fifty (61 with 5 sixes and 3 fours) and Kieron Pollard’s 22 were the standout performances as MI could only manage 170/8 to lose by 23 runs, their second straight loss of IPL 2022.

For RR, Yuzvendra Chahal with 2/26 was the most successful bowler, while Navdeep Saini picked 2/36. RR now has 4 points from 2 games.
