IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity astonished as Jos Buttler’s 100, Shimron Hetmyer’s onslaught takes RR to 193/8

Jos Buttler scored his second IPL hundred.

The 9th match of the IPL 2022 was the first encounter of the doubleheader on April 2nd, 2022, and played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the DY Patil Stadium. MI captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.

MI was coming into this match with a loss to Delhi Capitals in their first match of the tournament, while Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2022 opener.

Meanwhile, the innings were all about opener Jos Buttler’s amazing century and Shimron Hetmyer’s death overs bludgeoning of the MI bowling attack.

While Bumrah accounted for Yashasvi Jaiswal for 1 and Tymal Mills got rid of Devdutt Padikkal for 7 runs; first RR captain Sanju Samson with 30 from 21 balls with 3 sixes and then the partnership between Buttler and Hetmyer demolished the MI bowling.

Hetmyer fell for 35 in 14 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes with him taking Kieron Pollard to cleaners in the 17th over, hitting him for two sixes and two fours, as Pollard gave away 26 runs. He was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah after he added 53 runs in 4 overs with Buttler.

Bumrah then cleaned up Jos Buttler after he scored 100 in 67 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes. RR finished their 20 overs with 193/8. For MI, Bumrah took 3/17, while Mills took 3/35.

The cricket fraternity was astounded at the level of brutality from Buttler, Samson and Hetmyer and praised the RR innings wholeheartedly.
