IPL 2022: WATCH- GT's Shubman Gill takes an amazing catch running backwards to send back LSG's Evin Lewis

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) made their IPL 2022 debut at Wankhede.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT), the two new IPL franchises, clashed in their debut match of the IPL 2022 in the Wankhede Stadium on March 28, 2022. Hardik Pandya, the GT captain won the toss and chose to bowl first.

GT had Matthew Wade, David Miller, Lockie Ferguson, and Rashid Khan as their overseas players. LSG meanwhile picked three overseas cricketers in Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, and Dushmantha Chameera.

The match started on a blockbuster note as Mohammad Shami sent back LSG captain KL Rahul on the first ball of the match, caught behind by keeper Matthew Wade. He continued to rattle the LSG batting, as he got rid of Quinton de Kock for 7, clean bowling him.

However, the moment of the innings came when Varun Aaron got one delivery to hurry onto Evin Lewis who pulled it helplessly. The ball went towards the square leg, but Shubman Gill chased it down and dived full length running backward to come up with an early contender for the best catch.

Gill covered almost 25 yards looking at the ball over his shoulder, dived towards the boundary ropes to complete an amazing catch, leaving the LSG team 20/3 in the third over.
