MS Dhoni relinquished CSK’s captaincy two days ahead of the IPL 2022 opener.
Just two days ahead of the scheduled start, the legendary MS Dhoni relinquished CSK’s captaincy, handing over the job to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
Tributes poured in for Dhoni after his decision to quit captaincy, and former RCB skipper Virat Kohli was among the cricketers who lauded the wicketkeeper-batter on his fantastic stint with CSK.
Kohli also shared a heart-warming hug with Dhoni when he met the latter during a practice session at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (March 25).
In a video doing rounds on social media, Kohli can be seen walking towards Dhoni and giving him a long hug.
For the IPL 2022 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore have appointed former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis as captain. Virat Kohli, who relinquished RCB captaincy after last year's IPL, will play only as a specialist batter.
Du Plessis has joined the Bangalore-based franchise with a lot of experience under his belt. He was associated with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since 2012 and won two titles with the 'Yellow Brigade'.
On the eve of the start of the IPL 2022, Du Plessis too caught up with his former CSK teammates MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo
CSK’s official Twitter account shared pictures from the meet-up, in which Du Plessis can be seen holding Dhoni’s and also sharing a hug with him.
Meanwhile, RCB will open their IPL 2022 campaign against Punjab Kings on March 27.
