Ravindra Jadeja will take over as CSK captain from MS Dhoni.
Former Indian selector MSK Prasad on Thursday (24th March) said that he was really shocked with MS Dhoni’s decision to step down as the skipper of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2022.
MS Dhoni shell shocked many after he stepped down as the skipper of CSK just a couple of days before their clash against KKR. He passed on the leadership baton to Ravindra Jadeja for the upcoming IPL 15.
Dhoni will go down as one of the most successful captains in the league. Having led CSK to title victories in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021, the wicketkeeper batter captained the franchise in 204 games. He won 121 games as a skipper with a 59.60% win record.

His decision made many express their disappointment about the fact that they won't see him captaining the side anymore. Few even called it an end of an era.
Speaking to CNN Network 18’s CNN-News 18, MSK Prasad said that he was shocked with MS Dhoni’s decision to step down as CSK skipper. He highlighted that considering his success as a captain of the franchise, it is surprising that the wicketkeeper batter won’t lead the team in the upcoming seasons.
“Franky speaking, I am really shocked hearing this. Ever since the IPL has come up, we have always seen Dhoni in yellow colours and leading the side. And even if you see the last edition, he won the IPL championship. It is really surprising to me to hear that MS is not going to lead CSK," MSK Prasad said.

Prasad admitted that he expected Dhoni to take a call after the end of IPL 2022 and not so soon. He noted that veteran campaigner would’ve done a lot of analysis before deciding to hand the baton to ‘one of the best all-rounders in the world’
“With time, this was expected also but not so early. I thought that at the end of the season he might take a call. But you never know how Dhoni does it. He takes calls instinctively.
“For the outer world, it might look instantaneously but he does lot of analysis before taking a big decision and I’m sure he must have thought from every angle, and spoken to the management and passed the baton to one of the best all-rounders in the world right now,” he said.
IPL 2022 will kick start from 26th March with CSK taking on KKR in the curtain-raiser at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
